Jose L. Piedra Petit Cazadores Review

It was the Australia Day long weekend and as expected the weather had been typically warm for this time of year. I welcomed the chance to review the newest cigar from Jose. L Piedra; the Petit Cazadores. I had heard good things about this hand made Cuban short-filler and decided to buy a bundle of 25 and smoke as an everyday cigar. At only AU$145 for 25 sticks I didn’t have much to lose. With the weather mild my drink of choice was a new low carb Australian beer, Carlton Dry with Natural Lime. It’s certainly not the prettiest cigar with the dark wrapper displaying many veins.

This cigar does however offer consistency in construction. I cut the end with the CC cigar cutter and lit up with a single flame jet lighter. The initial draw and burn were both very good with hints of leather and cocoa apparent almost immediately. The Petit Cazadores begins in a strong full bodied fashion but certainly develops into a milder cigar rather quickly with the ash dark and firm. The flavours are consistent with the leathery and cocoa tones apparent throughout the life of the cigar. This cigar started well and finished in a similar vain.

Overall I’d rate this cigar a 7/10 as it offers great value. The Jose L. Piedra Petit Cazadores is a good everyday cigar perfect to hand out to all your friends!

Hi,
I must of had the lucky 4 from your box? As my wrappers appeared very good looking (Thankyou by the way), I also had one over the Australia Day Weekend and was quite impressed. Though small it lasted longer than I thought, plus at the price they are great.

Thank you for the sample and I look forward to ordering some before long :)

Hi Eric! I guess I was influenced by the appearance of the Trinidad Ingenios when writing this review. I’m pleased you enjoyed the Petit Cazadores. Kind Regards, David.
