Havana Club Rum Anejo 7 Review

It’s important to choose the right drink to accompany a Cuban cigar. I often get asked that question ‘What do you recommend to drink with a Cuban cigar?’

Choosing the appropriate drink can certainly enhance your smoking experience. When considering fine spirits a traditionalist typically suggests either a whiskey or cognac. Next time you’re given these options it may be worth thinking outside the square! Havana Club Anejo 7 can certainly be added to the list of spirits that can accompany the rich flavours of the Habanos cigar. The Havana Club Anejo 7 is the seven year old version of this famous Cuban rum and is bottled in a dark tall bottle which is sealed with a screw cap. The alcohol content of the Anejo 7 is rated at 40% and in the glass this rum displays a dazzling amber colour. To the nose the Anejo 7 offers complex aromas of cocoa, cedar and tobacco with a hint of vanilla.

In the mouth this rum is silky smooth and is followed by a complex palate of cocoa, sugar and oak. Despite its complexities the finish is intense but yet delightfully smooth. The Havana Club Anejo 7 should be enjoyed neat but the addition of an ice cube can help bring out the complexity of the rum. Alternatively allow the rum to breath in the glass for a few minutes.

Next time you’re considering a spirit with your Habanos cigar try a Havana Club Anejo 7. You won’t be disappointed!

David, As a person who is engaged to a Cuban Lady and spent numerous times in Cuba I couldn’t agree more on the comments made about Havana Club Siete Ano Ron.
It is without doubt the best “Sipping” rum I’ve ever come across. And it goes to say that the smoothness of this rum is proven by the fact that such a rum should not have anything added to it other than good company and of course a fine cigar. Saludos. Grant

Thanks Grant! I’m envious of the time you get to spend in Cuba! :) All the best. David
