San Cristobal De La Habana MurallaThe opportunity I had been waiting for to smoke and review the
San Cristobal De La Habana Muralla had finally arrived! This stunning looking cigar was initially released by San Cristobal and made available in the San Cristobal humidor in February 2006. Its name comes from an old Havana street that used to provide access to Puerta de la Tierra, one of the nine doors in the surrounding wall protecting the city. The dark wrapper, bands and construction combine to make this one of the most visually appealing Cuban cigars I have seen! Typically the weather gets cooler this time of year on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula and partnering my Muralla on this occasion was another De Bortoli Cabernet Merlot.
San Cristobal De La Habana MurallaI cut the end with my
CC Cutter and once lit this cigar was surprisingly easy to draw considering its massive 7″ length and 54 ring gauge. From the outset this cigar offers a complex palate of flavour including hints of coffee, spice and leather. The draw for the duration of the smoke was irresistible, despite its girth, and kept me coming back for more. The colour offered by the ash is grey which contrasts to a sharp white and clings before finally falling into the ashtray. This cigar offers similar traits to the
Montecristo No.2 but perhaps offers more consistency with regard to the draw. The thing I like most about the San Cristobal Muralla is it’s the complete package. It’s presentation, construction and smoking experience are all of the highest standard.
San Cristobal De La Habana Muralla
This cigar displays fantastic character and promise and should become an essential in any humidor! I rate this cigar a hefty 8.5/10!
