Partagas Series D No.4 Review

Partagas Series D No.4
Partagas Series D No.4
Partagas is Cuba’s second highest selling Cuban cigar behind Montecristo and is probably the most diverse of all Habanos brands. Partagas encompasses ninety five different vitolas with thirty two currently being produced. The largest production Partagas cigar currently is the Series D No. 4 robusto, which currently averages around 360,000 cigars per annum. Partnering the Series D No.4 for the review was the delicious Trentham Estate Pinot Noir 2006. Construction of the Series D No.4 is flawless and very appealing with its gorgeous oily and silky smooth maduro wrapper. I cut the head with a twin blade cutter and lit the foot using my Vector Tri Pump butane table lighter.

The Series D No.4 lit easily and immediately offered fantastic Cuban tobacco flavour of which cedar and spice were noteable. This cigar can be classified as full bodied from the outset as generous amounts of smoke are apparent almost instantly. The second third of the cigar reminds me why this vitola is the highest selling robusto in the world. As the flavour increases the cigar reaches its peak and steps up its reknowned Series D No.4 characteristics of spice and cedar. The final third dosen’t disappoint and is smooth while remaining full bodied. The ash throughout the life of the cigar is a solid dark grey contrasting to a lighter shade and at times white.

The Partagas Series D No.4 sits comfortably with its legendary status and deserves its place amongst the best from Habanos. I rate this robusto with the highest regard and score it a 8.5/10!
