Montecristo Petit Edmundo Review

Montecristo Petit Edmundo
Montecristo Petit Edmundo
This new release from Montecristo is the little brother of the reknown Montecristo Edmundo. The Montecristo Petit Edmundo measures 110mm in length with a ring gauge of 52. The Petit Edmundo is classified as a petit robusto and measures exactly an inch shorter than the Montecristo Edmundo. Hoyo de Monterrey released the Petit Robusto in 2004 which was the first release of this size. This vitola is consistent with the current trend of thicker gauged and shorter Cuban cigars. The concept being a full, complex smoking experience in a shorter amount of time. It guess that’s the way of the world! Partnering the Petit Edmundo for the review was the equally creamy Kilkenny Irish Ale.

The construction and apprearance of this cigar is first class. The perfect cap, caramel brown wrapper and glossy brown Montecristo band add up to a mouth watering combination. I cut the foot of the cigar with a twin blade cutter and couldn’t wait to light up. Right from the outset this cigar delivered volumes of rich, creamy flavour most notably of coffee and spice. The draw and burn throughout the life of the Petit Edmundo was absolutely flawless. Volumes of smoke were evident as each puff required minimal effort. The ash was typical of the best from Habanos; solid, grey and marbling with a pure white tinge. The Petit Edmundo is packed full of flavour and although short in stature offers a rich, complex and full smoking experience!

The quality of the new production cigars from Habanos is superb and they offer fantastic value for money. We rate the Montecristo Petit Edmundo up there with best from Habanos and score it a 8.5/10!
