Por Larranaga Robusto LE 2007 Review

Por Larranaga Robustos LE 2007
Pairing the Por Larranaga Robustos for the review is a 2006 Penfolds Thomas Hylands Cabernet Sauvignon. Unlit this cigar smells very young and ageing for twelve months will definitely release some of its potential. The Por Larranaga Robustos initially lit well, immediately offering sweet tones of rich cocoa, spice and leather. The flavours build during the second third of the cigar but unfortunately so do issues with draw and uneven burn. This cigar became hard work and it was disappointing as generally regional releases hit the mark with regard to construction. The smooth, full flavours of cocoa, spice and leather continue and intensify for the final third of this full bodied robusto. The ash, a dark grey, doesn’t cling for long which is a common occurrence with very young cigars. If we assume the draw and burn problems are not common for this regional release then this cigar certainly has its appeal.
