Patagas Serie P No.2 TubosSince its initial release in 2005 the
Partagas Serie P No.2 has proven immensely popular with Havana cigar smokers the world over. In 2005 Habanos were awarded the DFNI product award for the best new product in the tobacco category with this release. And for good reason.. this 156mm x 52 ring gauge torpedo, or piramide, is made by hand with leaves carefully selected from the best tobacco plantations in the Vuelta Abajo area. Recently this classic cigar has been released as a tubos edition. The new aluminium tube packaging is stunning as its predominantly black and red colouring reflects a new contemporary edge for the Partagas brand.
Partagas Serie P No.2Accompanying the Series P No.2 for the review was a
White Stag lager, a new low carb offering from Toohey’s. The Partagas Serie P No.2 is a beautiful looking cigar. Its oily, dark wrapper and stately red and gold band combine formidably with its sublime earthy aroma. All Partagas cigars are said to have ‘Partagas spice’ a flavour or flavours that are synonymous with the brand. Cold this cigar offered a reassuring light draw and from the first puff offered the expected, classic Partagas spice and earthiness. For the second third the spice subsides a little but the earthiness and complexity remains. For the final third the pepper and spice intensifies with the ash solid and firm. The Serie P No.2 is a full bodied Havana which had us thinking the whole time how perfect the draw and volume of smoke was!
Partagas Serie P No.2
Often compared to the Montecristo No.2 this release from Partagas is superior in consistency and with its depth and character is in a class of its own. We score the Partagas Serie P No.2 a 9/10.
